Make Lunch holiday club returns

For the past few years, we’ve been running a Make Lunch club during the school holidays - free children’s activities and a healthy lunch for families in Gilesgate, Durham.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns, we switched to ‘Make Lunch on Wheels’ - delivering food and activities to families in our communities.

But for summer 2021, we were delighted to be able to run some in-person activities again, as well as some ‘Make Lunch on Wheels’ too.

Over the summer holidays we:

  • Connected with 14 families

  • Ran 4 in-person sessions, serving around 90 meals

  • Also sent out around ingredients for 550 meals

  • Were supported by around 20 volunteers (big thanks to all of them!)

The summer programme was a great success. Look out for news on October half-term soon!

Christmas Family Service

Catch up (or enjoy again!) our Christmas Family Service from Sunday 20th December, via YouTube.

Highlights include some great Christmas dance moves, a Christmas take on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and stories of how different nations and peoples celebrate. Plus an enhanting version of Silent Night from Benjamin Amos and a Christmas message from Angus Freeman. Enjoy!

Are you up to the Gingerbread House challenge?

This Christmas, we’re inviting you to join our Gingerbread House challenge.

We provide the recipe, templates and video tutorial. You do the rest!

Share pictures and videos of your creations on the Make Lunch Durham Facebook page by Friday 1st January and we’ll pick a winner. No prizes - just the satisfaction of getting to eat the winning entry!

Get baking!
