Helping the homeless at Christmas

We had great fun as Aycliffe and Brancepeth Brass Band joined us for a Christmas carol concert on Sunday 15th December.

Even better, we raised £1,000 for Durham Winter Night Shelter, which provides free overnight shelter for people who would otherwise be homeless in Durham during the winter months.

Several of our members are involved with the initiative, including as charity trustees. So it was great to be able to help out.

Helping the homeless locally

It’s our privilege to show Jesus’ love to those around us in our local communities.

Recently, some members of one of our Emmanuel Communities, based in Gilesgate, helped a local charity by sorting clothing donations.

Durham Action on Single Housing (DASH) supports people at risk of homelessness.

Our group has developed strong links with the charity over recent years, redecorating their facilities, sorting food donations, making up Christmas hampers and doing some gardening work.

Youth trip to Bosnia

We're privileged to be part of God's worldwide family, and have wonderful connections with churches and friends across the globe.

One of those connections is with the Novi Most charity, a Christian charity pioneering youth work in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This summer, a team of our young people and their youth leaders are heading out to Bosnia to support the charity's work and support local churches.

Here, two of the young people involved, Rosie and Molly, speak about the upcoming trip and a fundraising ceilidh, taking place at The Durham Centre on Saturday 16th June, from 6pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are £5 for adults, or £15 for a family. Children are welcome. You are welcome to bring food and drinks. Money raised will also help to send young people to the Newday event this summer.
