Gift Day: The Emmanuel Centre

Gift Day: The Emmanuel Centre

Some time ago God spoke to us through Isaiah 54:2 challenging us to prepare for the revival with which he would bless us.

Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.
— Isaiah 54:2

God has promised to give great increase to the Emmanuel community.

Alan at the completion of the car park extension

At the same time as this promise was given we were given the option of purchasing Unit 1, the building opposite The Durham Centre.  We completed the purchase of the Microchem building in May and will take possession of the building at the end of this month, when the tenant moves out.

The first stage of the development was the expansion of the car park which is now complete.

These last few Sundays have seen the auditorium in The Durham Centre filled almost to capacity. We need a bigger space in which to gather.  God has also given us a vision for 400 people gathering each week; a vibrant, praise filled community, worshipping Jesus.

In Unit 1, which will be known at The Emmanuel Centre, we are going to create a 500 seat auditorium, which we are told, will be the biggest of its kind in the City.

On Sunday 3rd November, we are holding our next Gift Day, when all of the money raised will go towards the development of The Emmanuel Centre.

Unit 1

Please pray and give generously in support of this exciting journey God of faith to which God has called us.

The giving for our present building, The Durham Centre, began when one young boy came forward one Sunday and gave his 50p pocket money towards the cost of developing The Durham Centre. That simple act of faith provoked a mighty wave of generosity to sweep across the church and we are enjoying the blessing of that generosity some 12 years on.

Let’s take hold of the big vision God has given us and see it fulfilled.

International Sunday
Mar

International Sunday

We are all part of God's family, which stretches across the globe. And our vision is to be a growing, charismatic family church with a world vision.

We are proud of the diversity we have among our congregations in Durham and Chester-le-Street, and our links with friends and churches worldwide.

International Sunday celebrates all of this - with great colour and celebration.

Join us at The Durham Centre on Sunday 4th March, at 10:30am.

This will be a joint meeting of our Durham and Chester-le-Street congregations. There will be no separate meeting in Chester-le-Street.

During the meeting, we will be taking up an offering to thank God for the granting of planning permission for The Emmanuel Centre. This was the first hurdle to clear as we look to extend and expand our Kingdom Resource Centre in Durham, which will bring provision for the nation and the nations.  At the same time, part of the offering will be going to a church in Pune, India, to enable a couple to enlarge their meeting place for a Hindi speaking house church, enable leadership training and support other house church plants.
