We believe in ‘believer’s baptism’ - baptism of those who have declared their faith in Jesus Christ.

These are shorter services, of no more than one hour, and suitable for all ages.

We meet at The Durham Centre from 7.45pm.
These meetings are open to church members only. We believe in membership as a public declaration of belonging to our church family. If you’re interested in becoming a member, please get in touch.

Here at Emmanuel, we love Christmas - when we celebrate Jesus' birth as a baby, 2,000 years ago. As Christians, we believe Jesus was fully God and fully man, lived on earth, was crucified and rose again, to eternal life - and now offers that eternal life to us.
We'd love it if you would join us for Christmas 2020. This year’s programme will look quite different to normal years, but there are still lots of opportunities to get involved and celebrate.
Since Sunday 6th December, we’ve been able to meet in-person at The Durham Centre. Tickets should be pre-booked. Please see here for more information on our Covid-19 precautions and procedures.
Our Christmas programme kicks off on Sunday 20th December, when we have two in-person, Christmas-themed meetings:
9.30am: A Family Service, celebrating Jesus as the light of the world. Book your ticket here.
11.15am: A Carols Service, with carols sung by a choir plus an uplifting Christmas message. Book your ticket here.
There will also be an online service at 10.30am, on our YouTube channel. This will be a pre-recorded version of the 9.30am Family Service, plus the Christmas message from the 11.15am service. And afterwards there will be the chance to meet people from the church on Zoom at a ‘virtual coffee’ session.

We’re blessed to have many children and young people in our church - and amazing children’s and youth work leaders!
Several times each year, we hold Family services, where we all stay in the main service together, for a service suitable for all ages.
These services are shorter than usual, lasting one hour. And they’re always great fun!
Link Up Lunches involve hosting or being hosted by a different member of our church family for lunch on Sunday 15th March after church.
It is a great opportunity to create greater 'links' and relationships within our church body so please do get involved!
There will be a sign-up board for people who want to host and to be hosted in the foyer at The Durham Centre at church each week before Sunday 15th March. For more information please contact Jonny Higgins.
We’re so grateful to God for the links he has given us around the world, and the many friends he has joined to us from overseas here in Durham.
International Sunday is our way of celebrating this diversity in the church.
Everyone is invited to wear the dress of their home or chosen nation and we’ll be welcoming our great friend Finny to speak.
Join us for this special occasion, as we will be worshipping God together and celebrating the official launch of Redeemer Church Chester-le-Street!
After the service, we will also enjoy a shared lunch together (please bring food to share).
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without our phenomenally popular Christmas Family Fun Day!
Join us for inflatables, a bouncy castle, games, crafts, face painting, Santa’s Grotto, refreshments and much more - all free!
At The Durham Centre on Saturday 7th December from 1pm to 4pm.
Free transport will be available locally. Keep an eye out here for details.
Our Chester-le-Street congregation will be going on a weekend away from Friday 4th October, until Sunday 6th October!

Do you want to meet new people, or catch up with old friends?
After church at The Durham Centre on Sunday 22nd September, you’re invited to ‘Let’s do Lunch’.
This is an opportunity for people to have lunch with others in the church. You can either book in to have a meal with someone in particular (for example, two families who want to eat together) or book onto a communal table and meet with whoever you find yourself next to!
The aim here is to encourage deepening of family within our church.
Booking is required in advance. Please email Jenny Booth with dietary requirements and whether you want to eat with someone in particular. Places are limited to 40, and available on a first come, first served basis.
The meal will be provided on a ‘pay as you want’ basis.
Finally, if you would like to help out on the day, again please contact Jenny.
Would you like to catch up with old friends over a meal, without having to cook?
Or make new friends and connections, in a relaxed, sociable environment?
Then sign up for ‘Let’s Do Lunch’: a two-course meal provided after church at The Durham Centre, offered on a ‘pay what you feel’ basis.
Sign up to eat with particular friends, or on any table.
